Rachael Kunkel, Fourth Grade Teacher

I am the fourth grade Reading, Science, and Social Studies teacher at Saint Margaret of Scotland.  I have a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies and Science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and I am certified to teach grades PK-9 in Missouri.

After I graduated, I substituted in the Edwardsville School District for one year at all grade levels. In 2009, I moved on to teach preschool for a year and became the assistant director of  that same school the following year. I also took a course in Early Childhood Education to further my education.  I was the assistant in the Montessori classroom at Saint Margaret of Scotland for the 2011-2012 school year, and I taught the Theme-Based preschool classroom from 2012-2017. This year I am teaching in the fourth grade classroom st SMOS and I am very excited to dive into the curriculum with the students.

I have been married since 2008 to my wonderful husband. We welcomed our first child in October 2011, our second in January of 2014, and our third in March of 2017. Two of my three kids now attend school at SMOS.  I am definitely an animal lover and we currently own two dogs, a cat, and a bird.  I spend most of my free time with family and friends, both of which are very important in my life.  Some of my favorite hobbies include going to the movie theatre, walking my dogs, and looking for new ideas on Pinterest.
